The lives of an Objibwe family are ripped apart when the mother is brutally raped, and barely survives. Told through the eyes of the 13-year old son, Joe, the family tries to recover and heal, while at the same time, find the man who committed this crime. This was the perfect novel for me. I loved the characters, the story, and the way this novel completely drew me in to the tragedy of this family. My favorite book of 2013 - so far!
